Opening: (Day 3) To open the final day of the lab students will share their answers for the post lab questions. These will be collected and counted as a homework assignment.
Body: Students will take a look at the results of the transformation lab. They will each get to place their agar plate of transformed E. coli on a UV light box and see if the bacteria glow. If it does, then the transformation was successful. For the remainder of class students will go to the library and begin working on their final unit project that was mentioned at the end of lesson 6.
Closing; Students will be asked to type a one page double spaced reflection on the transformation lab. In their reflection they will be asked to discuss the following: - Was your group’s transformation successful? Why? Why not? - How does this lab connect to what we have learned so far about evolution? The reflection will be due the next day for homework.
